ESPN insider predicts next NFL QB to 'score mega-deal'

The 2024 campaign is the final year of Goff's current contract, which will pay a base salary of $22.3 million.

He had his second consecutive outstanding season in 2023 with 4,575 yards, 30 TD passes and a 66.7 completion percentage.  Goff also completed a career-high 407 passes.

He led the Lions to a 12-5 record, the NFC North Division crown, two playoff wins and a trip to the NFC Championship Game.

Detroit has already locked up two of its other key players to long-term deals during the offseason.

Wide receiver Amon-Ra St, Brown signed a four-year, $120 million extension and offensive tackle Penei Sewell inked a four-year, $112 million contract.

Whenever Goff's new deal gets done, it is expected to pay the 29-year-old at least $50 million per season. 

Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals is scheduled to be the league's highest-paid signal caller in 2024 at $55 million. Justin Herbert of the San Diego Chargers is next at $52.5 million and he is followed by last season's NFL Most Valuable Player, Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens, who will make $52 million. The Philadelphia Eagles' Jalen Hurts is fourth at $51 million, to complete the current $50 million club.
