Thomas Tuchel comments on Bayern Munich future amid Manchester United links

Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United is far from certain as the Dutchman battles to remain in the job past this season following a wretched second campaign in charge.

Ten Hag enjoyed a stunning first year at the club, guiding his men back to the Champions League and ending the club’s six-year wait for silverware.

Twelve months on from the end of that season, United have failed to qualify for the 2024/25 Champions League but could still end the season with a trophy, with the Reds coming up against cross-city rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final later this month.

Thomas Tuchel is one of the managers to have been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer as the German will be departing Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Tuchel was interested in joining United after it was presented as something that could occur as doubts over Ten Hag grow.

Now, the former Chelsea manager has commented on his future with the German giants, admitting that a U-turn is not on the agenda after some reports had hinted that he could yet stay in Munich.

“Since we agreed to part ways, Bayern has been looking intensively for a new coach – I’m guessing even before our conversation,” Tuchel is quoted as saying by Fabrizio Romano.

“That’s bad motivation to then say: ah, let’s do it again with you. Nah. From my point of view, that’s clear.”

Should United decide to part ways with Ten Hag, it is fair to assume that Tuchel will be one of the names the club would consider. As things stand, it does not look like United have made any decision on Ten Hag’s future.
